Egyptian Empire - The 26th Dynasty

"As interesting as this period was - the 26th Dynasty was often referred to as the Procrastinating Dynasty by the surrounding kingdoms. So bad was its procrastination that no records were made of their non-deeds. An example of this is the famous Sphinx with the unfinished nose." - Prof. Sue Ridge, British Museum (UK).

Died and in Glory

In lecture listening to PhillipJ speak about one of his lecturers and mentioned that this particular lecturer had died and was now in glory.
What a picture of hope that is - that certainty for all who love and trust in the Lord Jesus.

I remember during a preaching conference DACarson talking about the certainty of seeing his parents again when our King returns phrasing like:
"On that day the Lord will call out Tom Carson rise! Marg Carson rise!.."

What a hope we have - a hope that isn't of the kind the world understands.
The world understands hope as something that carries no certainty in the outcome but desiring a favourable result.
The Christian hope - a true hope - knows what the outcome is - and it is certain.
This hope comes from placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And the outcome is eternal life with God.

Heb 10: 22-23
...22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
1Peter 1:3-5
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

Adopt a Single!

Heard it in a lecture this morning - in how we support single people in ministry.
It's a cracka!
In many ways this is really cool that married couples care for single ministry men and women (and a very necessary thing).
But just the language used by someone in lectures today - where they have "Adopted a Single" makes me feel like a cabbage patch kid.
I can hear Nelson (from The Simpsons) pointing at me saying "Har-Har"!!
Good to know they are whole heartedly committed to caring for us - but still I find it funny!!

Happy Birthday Prash!

He's a brother that you know from the streets,
He's a G he's hardcore and packin a piece.
But the piece that he's packin it ain't a gun,
but the power of the gospel of God's only Son!

And he's out here in N-town doin time,
But in a theology college not for a crime.
He's turned 30 today or so I'm told,
And he's hangin with the first year fold.

If you see the gospel gangster named Prash,
bust dope beats, lyrics or drop in a cake with ganache.
But not too much coz he's booked for a brazilian,
food night that is - hey what were you thinkin??!

Ironic

Isn't it ironic that Alanis Morissette's song "Ironic " isn't ironic? Don't you think?
A little too ironic .... I really do think!
